Conductive Education Centre
Steps, based in Shepshed, Leicestershire is a centre for pre-school age children with cerebral palsy and other motor dysfunctions and their families. It enables the children to progress their motor and communication skills to lead fuller, more active lives. It also provides support for the over 5s too!
Many of the children have cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, or chromosome deficiency. Some also have secondary characteristics, such as visual or hearing impairment, communication problems or learning difficulties.
By helping the children develop their physical, emotional, intellectual and personal skills in a relaxed learning environment, Steps eases their integration into school and their own community, allowing them to live more independently.
Founded in 1994, the charity is managed by volunteer trustees and committee members. It provides a unique service in the East Midlands and depends upon the financial support of funders, sponsors, and donors to raise the £200,000 p.a. needed to keep the centre running.
70% of the proceeds from the evening will go to Steps.
